Smoke and Mirrors
Eller Decor said it best in their article Decorating with Mirrors, "With so many shapes, sizes, and styles, mirrors are a versatile decorative element that give instant polish to a room with little effort. They can do wonders—from illuminating dark corners to adding elegance and drama to an area to creating the illusion of space. They can even serve as works of art. There’s a mirror for every taste, whether yours is ultramodern or ultraclassic." Here are a few tips on changing the look of a room by just adding a mirror. In a narrow corridor or hallway place a mirror on ...
The Circus is in Town
We love reading other blogs and seeing what designers are doing across the country. One of our daily reads, Desire to Inspire recently mentioned Kansas based designer Kate Dixon in their post Roll up, roll up ... the circus is in town. Now for some designers creating themed rooms for children is a definite don’t, but I must say I fell in love with Kate's circus themed room. Take a look at the images below and tell me you don't feel the same way about this whimsical space created by Kate Dixon and her team at Artistic Living Spaces. What do you ...

Sphere Shaped Lighting is out of this world
Posted on August 20, 2010 · Leave a CommentWe are in love with the new sphere shaped lighting fixtures. These industrial shaped chandeliers have both a contemporary and old world feel about them.We used this style lighting in several rooms in our Fox beach house project.
It appears that we aren’t the only ones who are obsessed with this lighting. Greige and Verdigris Vie both featured these sphere shaped fixtures on their blog. Greige even referred to them as steampunk pieces.
Verdigris Vie’s Vitania says “Taking inspirations from old armillaries, these spherical rings are more like artistic sculptures suspended from the ceiling. They are captivating and dramatic, and a fabulous addition to a foyers, dining rooms and kitchens.” We couldn’t agree more.
Is there a new approach to design?
Posted on August 18, 2010 · Leave a CommentIs there a new approach to design that is transcending styles? Once upon a time a design was broken down into categories. It was either traditional or contemporary, French country or beach chic, but now times are changing and designers are breaking down the barriers of labels.
Blogger and lifestyle expert Eddie Ross recently told Shelterpop that today’s method of design is about “mixing and matching of different styles from different time periods. We’re making our own rules rather than having someone else dictate them for us. ”
Designers are not only mixing styles of furniture, but according to Shelterpop, they are “altering furniture and accessories to fit one’s lifestyle.” What do you think about the new approach to design?
