This spring pastels are showing up everywhere.  Celebrities went all out with pastels at the Oscars.

Once again, taking a cue from fashion, interior design is bringing the soft hues of pastel back to the forefront.  One of our favorite blogs, Apartment Therapy recently asked Chicago designer, Ann Coyle how to properly design using pastels. See her response below:

1. Keep the pastels cool and pale and use them in a field of warm neutrals.

2. Use a stronger, bolder version of your pastel’s complementary color as part of the design.

3. Mix with darks.

4. When mixing a pastel with a bright use plenty of white.

We used pastels in a recent home for a client in the Little Rock’s Pulaski Heights neighborhood.  See how we transformed  her home into what At Home in Arkansas described as “worldly and fashion-forward”.
