Gray is becoming the go to neutral color in the design world. From blue to canary yellow, everything, it seems, goes with the color gray. We’ve used gray as a base color in many of our design projects.

New York designer Eric Cohler tells Elle Decor that  “Almost any shade of gray will transcend the traditional, adding freshness. It’s the perfect masculine-feminine combination color to use in a room. Think yin and yang.”

Even West Coast designers like San Francisco-based designer Grant K. Gibson are seeing the light and using more gray. Gibson tells Elle Decor that “I think a lot of people are scared of gray, because they’re worried that it’s dark, morbid, or depressing. But that’s not true. In a room with the right accessories it can be moody and dramatic.”

We love the way gray makes the colors it is paired with come alive. So remember gray the next time you decide to paint or wallpaper your walls.
