The Circus is in Town

We love reading other blogs and seeing what designers are doing across the country.   One of our daily reads, Desire to Inspire recently mentioned Kansas based designer Kate Dixon in their post Roll up, roll up … the circus is in town. Now for some designers creating themed rooms for children is a definite don’t, but I must say I fell in love with Kate’s circus themed room.  Take a look at the images below and tell me you don’t feel the same way about this whimsical space created by Kate Dixon and her team at Artistic Living Spaces.

What do you think about themed rooms, yes or no?

  1. themed rooms…yes and no…

i think in a nursery or in a childs room a themed room is a great way to create a space for a child…it can be an aid to their growth in many ways if executed correctly…

in a public environment, a theme can be a great way to achieve a concept and can work fabby in a bar or restaurant or a shop…when it comes to offices and healthcare i think it’s time to get sophisticated and leave the theme at the doorstep on the way in…

i visited with a couple earlier in the year and i could not believe how horribly themed their living room was…african safari gone wrong…it was terrible…

a theme executed badly can leave me gasping for my breath…in a bad way

I live in Kansas City and saw this room in person. It was part of the symphony designers show house. This was my favorite room in the entire house. I tour houses like this to be inspired. Unfortunately I left feeling disappointed instead!
