Eller Decor said it best in their article Decorating with Mirrors, “With so many shapes, sizes, and styles, mirrors are a versatile decorative element that give instant polish to a room with little effort. They can do wonders—from illuminating dark corners to adding elegance and drama to an area to creating the illusion of space. They can even serve as works of art. There’s a mirror for every taste, whether yours is ultramodern or ultraclassic.”
Here are a few tips on changing the look of a room by just adding a mirror.
- In a narrow corridor or hallway place a mirror on one of the walls (preferably the longest wall) to instantly elongate the space. The reflection of the light will make the room appear larger than it is.
- Haven’t found the right piece of artwork to hang over the mantle? A beautifully decorative mirror can, at times, replace a piece of art.
- Decorating with mirrors can also improve interior lighting. If your room is painted in a darker color, adding mirrors to one or more walls can offset the darkness. You can also place mirrors opposite of windows to reflect natural light and brighten the entire room.
Below are some photos of rooms that we have designed where adding a window does wonders to the space.
