Memorial Day weekend, the unofficial start of summer, is here and we are looking forward to spending some time up at our Lake House in Hot Springs, Arkansas. We knew when we first saw the home that we had to completely transform its current “tired” look into something a little more bright and airy.

We made the former sitting room into a dining room so that we could have this incredible view to look at while eating our meals. Once the dining room was in place the rest of the room kind of fell into place. We moved the seating areas into the middle of the room so that we could utilize all that natural light.

One of the first things we did was paint the walls white and white wash the fireplace. We think it came out really well. A lake house, or beach house for that matter, should be fresh and bright. It also makes it a lot easier to add those special touches along the way.
